Author's note: I started this long before I came up with Monica, Brian, and Rose. Jamie turns into Monica. I'm sorry that I stop dead but I kind of lost the plot line and I've been to busy to do anything on this story since. Also this has not been profread. so you get to see how bad I really am at grammer

"Scully, tell me something " Mulder looked up from the file in his lap as Dana Scully walked in the room.
"What this time Mulder?" She placed her briefcase on her desk and dropped into her chair.
"Rough time at the convention?" He asked as he walked over behind her. He gently massaged her shoulders and she tilted her head back to look up at him, feeling the tension relieved from her shoulders.
"Man, I heard more Mrs. Spooky then I heard at your last one. Please tell me we have a case far, far away. And were going to be there a very long time."
Mulder laughed and smiled down at her. Scully opened her eyes and sat up. Mulder walked back to his desk and carried it back to Scully. He dropped it on her desk and smiled.
"Hope you like Scotland."
=================================
Scotland
"Josh ye are kidding me right? Im Theyre dragging two fibbies in on this?" Jamie McKenzie stood from her chair and placed her hands palm down on the desk between her and the higher-ranking man in front of her.
Her strawberry blond hair was held beck in a tight ponytail but one long stran bounced in her sea green eyes flaring violence. Behind it she look absolutely stunning to her boss. But with a flick of her lightly tanned hands she brought it back behind her ear.
"You gotem. Look two American tourists where killed ok? So there sending over two fibs. And dont pull any of that bullshit that you like to work alone. Im sure they just are coming out here for a simple get away. They will hardly be here I bet. Now go. Their flight comes in in 4 hours."
The women stood, "No "
"Bullshit, get outta my face, McKenzie. Youre stuck with the fibbies no matter what."
Spinning on her heal, she strode out of the office. She really didnt mind having other people come in on her cases, it was just she liked giving her old boyfriend a hard time. She was almost stumped on this case anyway, the fibs might just help her out. Whether they like it or not
=================================
"So, how will we know where to go?" Scully asked turning her head to where Mulder sat, in the window seat.
"A guy is supposed to be picking us up. Names Jamie McKenzie. Hes tall, 62, strawberry blond hair, green eyes, lightly tanned." He winked at Dana. Dana just rolled her eyes.
"And since you wouldnt really let me finish that damn file, would you like to explain why where going to Scotland for 2 weeks?" Mulder reached into his briefcase and pulled out the folder.
"2 people brutally murdered."
"How?"
"Nothing unusual, stabbing victims"
"Then why are we here?"
"The people were kids. And they died in the same spot. And the killings started just three days ago." Mulder turned to her, his voice taking on that theres a conspiracy thing going on and Scullys not gunna believe me tone.
"And they called us."
"Yeah. I think they used the excuse that one of the murder victims is an American. My contact must have pulled some strings." He waggled his eyebrows at her.
"Oh shut up Mulder."
===================
"Scully " Mulder shook the women next to him gently. Hoping to wake her from her sleep. She reached over and smacked Mulder in his face.
"Ow!" he yelped and rubbed his nose, "Remind me never to wake you up in the morning."
"Jesus. Sorry Mulder." Scully covered her mouth as if she was yawing to hide the smile that played across her face.
"The planes gunna land time to wake up. Welcome to Scotland Scully." He smiled as she sat up and peered out the plane window, over his lap, "Scully, while your there-"
She slapped his lap very close to the area he had been referring to. Mulder grimaced and Scully laughed in his face. She grew quiet as the pilot came over the loud speaker.
"Id like to thank you all for flying United Airlines. The time is currently 9:08 pm. The temperature is a cool 69 degrees. Its a beautiful night and I hope you all enjoy time here. Id like to be the first one to welcome you to Scotland. Attendants prepare for landing."
Mulder looked out the window and watched as the ground rushed up at him. For a second it seemed as if the plane would smash right into the ground and Mulder felt himself grip the seat a little tighter. He didnt hear Scully leaning over to look out the window.
"Scared Mulder?" He jumped and Scully couldnt help but snicker at him. The plane taxied rather quickly and soon the agents were collecting their carry-on luggage. Scully pulled her backpack onto her shoulder and picked up her laptop. Mulder stepped out into the isle and let Scully out in front of him.
"So I hope someones meeting us here Mulder." She looked around as she walked into the terminal. Two men in business suits, four in kilts, and several obvious tourists. Mulder led the way to the baggage claim and while they where waiting for their luggage to come around, Scully noticed a tall woman watching them.
"Mulder that womans watching us." Scully said quietly so not to draw attention. Mulder glanced in the direction of the woman and her noticed almost immediately that she fit the profile of Jamie McKenzie, only she was a woman, not a man.
"Want to check her out or watch to see what she does?" Scully asked keeping her back to the woman.
"Lets check her out quietly though. Okay?" He leaned over and picked up his bag. When he stood again, Scully was watching him, "What?"
"Lets do it." She turned and walked away from him. He stood staring after her for a second, then he came back t himself and started to walk in the opposite direction. Out of the corner of his eye he could see the woman watching Scully.
He glanced over at his partner and then began to loop around behind the woman. He noticed the womans head moving back and forth, searching the crowd for someone.
Scully walked slowly, watching to see whom she would follow. The green eyes cut through her like a knife. The womans eyes peered out from under the faded hat she wore, like a predator, stalking its pray. Scullys eyes flicked to where Mulder was. Scully reached under her trench and flipped the strap that held her gun in its holster. Suddenly the woman turned and Scully watched as she came face to face with Mulder. She moved as fast as she could to get to Mulders aid, wondering how she had known Mulder was coming up behind her.
"Hello." The voice was soft and held a slightly friendly tone. The face was just a little shorter then his, the womans eyes coming up to his nose. She smiled and held out her hand. Mulder heard the rhythmic click of Scullys shoes on the floor.
"Glad ye joined us Agent Scully. Im not going to hurt any of ye." She spoke with a forced English accent, the Scottish rolling of the Rs evident in her voice.
"Who are you?" Mulder asked as Scully came to stand beside him.
"Jamie McKenzie. Welcome to Scotland. I hope yer not going to be like those other agents that fly over ere. If ye are then Im going to send yer asss back to the US." She pulled out her credentials and smiled at them.
"Jamie? I thought "
"That I was a man? Aye, I get it a lot. Dinna worry about it. Ill show ye to the hunk of junk yer going to be driving. If ye have any questions about the case, dinna worry about asking me." She reached out and took a bag from Scully and Mulder and led them out the door. Mulder followed with a shake of his head.
Scully was a little uneasy about Jamie but she found herself trusting Jamie a little more then she should, but then again, Jamie was a very easily trusting woman. Jamie must have never had to deal with the damn shadow government like her and Mulder. If they had been set up to take this case then Jamie would very quickly learn about the truth.
=====================
"I dont trust her."
"Mulder. You never trust anyone."
"I trust you." Scully looked up at him from her suitcase.
"I know you do. I think Jamies trust worthy. I dont think shes dealt with the stuff we have yet."
"Dont you think its weird that she knew I was coming when she was watching you the whole time? And that she knew who we were?" Mulder loosened the tie around his neck as he leaned on the doorframe of the connecting door.
"Maybe she read our files? If she was picking us up she had to know what we looked like. And she could have guessed that you where behind her, maybe she saw you out of the corner of her eye? Mulder I could go on all night." Scully said as she stood from pushing her suitcase under her bed. She sat and then laid back with her feet hanging over the edge. She sighed and Mulder crossed the room to sit beside her.
"Im fine, Mulder. Really. It feels so good to not have to worry about another nosebleed or being too weak to go on a case with you. Im finally able to run around with my nieces and nephews. I can stay up late and not have to worry about being so weak that I cant get up in the morning. No more scans or tests. Im free."
Mulder smiled and brush the hair around her face back behind her ears. He watched how she avoided his eyes and almost laughed out loud while he watched he gather her strength and sit up. She stood and moved across the room to the mini bar, and pulled out a soda and a beer. She handed him the beer and walked with her soda to the window that over looked the countryside.
A knock at the door startled them. Mulder, who was about to walk to Scullys side, went to the door and opened it to find Jamie McKenzie in jeans and a worn leather jacket, Her long hair was tied back in a ponytail and she was running a faded hat through her hands. She looked up without moving her face.
Mulder had a word pop up in his head as he looked at her, panther. He swore to God that she looked like a panther. And she as straitened suddenly, he noticed a small necklace around her neck.
"Agent Mulder, how do ye expect to ride with cloths like that?" She asked and walked past him into the room.
"Ride?" Mulder and Scully both said at the same time.
"How else do ye expect to get out to the crime scene? Agents, several areas of the Scottish Highlands are inaccessible to cars, because the natives are still living in the 1600s and because well, it is the highlands."
She looked at the confused expressions on the two agents faces, "I didnt tell ye did I? Fuck, Im getting worse. Well, do ye have and boots? Anything other then dress shoes?"
Dana shook her head. Mulder walked back into his room and came back wearing jeans, a black T-shirt, and cowboy boots. Scully had changed into a part of jeans, a blouse, and sneakers. Jamie led the way out and Scully kept shaking her head. When the got to the car Jamie climbed in the drivers seat and Scully next to her.
===================
"Come on Dave." The sandy hair colored boy looked up from his book to see his friend Ashley.
"Where are we going?" The crisp English accent he had was what drove most of the girls in the Lally Brooch school system nuts. David had come to Lally Brooch with his parents after his great-grandparents had died and they had left his foster father their old Scottish house.
"My Great Aunt Jenny says that my great cousin Jamie is coming into town to investigate the murders and the teens that are doing them. I want you to meet her." Ashley said waiting for David to stand and follow her.
"Is Cole going?" David said giving the barn to his left a frightened glance.
"No. Him and Jonathan are doing something today. Are you going to come?" Dave stood up. Cole had asked him the other day if he ever wanted to be apart of something. Dave had always thought Cole was up to something, but if Jamie McKenzie was coming to check it out then he had nothing to worry about, Jamie was the best. He knew why, too. He knew about Jamies secret. He knew about it because Jamie was his mom.
===================
"Here, ye can use these. Their yer size, I hope." Jamie handed Scully a par of padlock boots and walked out of the tack room, "Ready ta go, Mulder?"
The tall man looked his horse in the eye and turned to Jamie, "Youre joking right?"
Jamie shook her head and laughed gently. She walked down the isle to where her horse was tied. He adjusted the saddlebags that where carrying her cloths and the bag on her back so it was comfortable. She grabbed her faded cowboy hat from the peg it was hanging on and put it on as she put her left foot in the stirrup so she faced the back of the horse. In one fluid motion she swung her right leg up and over the saddle and picked up her other stirrup without looking. She heard a low whistle and looked up to see Mulder and Scully watching.
Mulder tried mimicked Jamies mount. His mount wasnt natural as Jamies was but he made it into the saddle. Scully walked to the horse she was going to ride and swung into the saddle almost effortlessly. She sat with a straight back and moved her horse out of the barn as Mulder watched, impressed.
"Hey Scully, how did you learn to do that?" Mulder asked when he caught up with her.
"One of the bases we stayed at had a barn. I learn the basics of riding. Mulder, you dont use youre feet to make the horse move. You use youre inner leg. Thats it."
Jamie came up behind them; she rode a black horse with a white strip on its forehead. Mulder rode a gentle brown and white piebald, which he nicked eightball. Scully was on a gentle palomino what was called dreams.
"The towns no far from ere, a good three hours at a walk." Jamie said slowly.
"Three hours? Cant we go any faster?" Mulder asked and Jamies horse started to prance sideways so it took a minute for her to answer.
"Och. Aye, we can. We can jog, lope, gallop, or run. I suggest that we only go as fast as a lope. Not only ta save our horses but because I have this little feeling that Mulder hasnna really ever taken a riding lessons." Scully nodded and reached behind her to make sure the saddlebags were secure.
Jamie reached over and clipped a lead line onto the bridle of Mulders horse. Mulder looked at Jamie and growled, "Whats that for?"
"Its to make sure yer horse willna run away. Or would ye just like ta let yer horse run wild with ye?" Mulder looked her right in the eye. Scully could feel the sparks flying between the two.
"I can handle myself." Scully thought, for a brief few seconds, that Jamie was going to either pull out her gun and shoot Mulder or slap him across the face. But when Jamie moved she unclipped the lead line.
"Ta complete this case yer gunna ave ta trust me. And dinna worries yerself about where were going ta stay. I have family there." She righted herself in the saddle and looked at Scully. She tipped her hat gently to Scully and her horse moved into a lope as she looked ahead.
"Mulder. Have you ever ridden a horse before?"
"No. But I dont trust her." Scully shook her head.
"Mulder stopped holding the rains like that and lean forward. Your horse will follow Jamies and Ill stay right beside you so youre horse doesnt run off." As she said this Mulders horse moved into a canter and Scullys just a second behind Mulders.
"Im going to get a hold of the Gunmen and see if they can find anything on her. I dont trust her. And us going into a town that has almost no outside contact "
"Mulder she only said that we had to ride into town because cars couldnt. There are going to be phones and TV and computers. Dont worry about her. The faster we figure this case out the faster we can relax." Mulder looked at her and nodded.
"Im still calling the Gunmen." Scully sighed, shaking her head.
=================
The three riders crested the hill and they stopped. Jamie looked over the town that lay out before them. She spotted a bunch of kids hanging out on the stone wall not far from where the three of them sat on their horses. She smiled and squeezed her legs. The horse spun and galloped off towards the wall.
"What the hell?" Mulder asked as they turned their horses to chase Jamie.
Jamie Leaned forward so far she was practically laying on her horses back. Her horses feet looked as if they werent touching the ground at all. As she came upon the children she sat back and her horse leaned back and looked as if it was trying to sit. Its hindquarters dug into the ground and the horse slide to a stop a few short feet from the wall, where the children sat.
"Mom!" young boy, 13 or 14, sandy brown hair, jumped from the wall and ran to Jamie as she dismounted. Jamie opened her arms and the boy flew into her. She lifted him up and swung him around. Mulder looked at Scully, questioningly and she shrugged in response.
"Ahem." Mulder cleared his through as he pulled his horse to a stop. Jamie looked up at them and then stood.
"Kids, This is Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully of the FBI. They are ere to help me with the murder case. Mulder, Scully, this is my son, David McLindsy, and that red head over there is my little cousin and these are the kids that you probably will be interviewing at some point." Mulder looked at Scully.
"Aye, Agent Mulder, My son.-Ashley is yer mother expecting us?"
"Yeah. Ma knows yer coming. I dont think she knows about yer friends. Theyre not sleeping in the house are they?" The teenage looking red head said hopping down from the wall she sat on.
"No. Are ye Mad?! I made reservations at the Fraser Inn. Go and tell yer mother well be there in an hour. Im gunna take them," pointing over her shoulder, "ta the last crime scene. Ye ta David."
The boy just stood there and looked at Jamie. She shook her head and walked back to her horse. She mounted and glared at David.
"Go on home boy." The boy whistled and a horse walked around from behind a patch of trees. Jamie laughed and then pulled out a slingshot. She loaded it with a rock and aimed at the boy, "Now, David"
"Are you insane? You could kill him with that!" Scully exclaimed from behind Jamie. Jamie turned and looked at Scully.
"Im not gunna kill my own kin. Are ye mad?" Jamie shook her head and put the slingshot away as the boy and his horse cantered off, "Ok. We can go see the crime scene, check in ta the inn or go and have a bit ta eat. Yer choice."
"Hotel. I have to make a phone call, and we need to unpack. Then the crime scene if its not to late." Mulder said moving his horse up beside Jamies.
"Yer out of character Agent Mulder. And ye still dont trust me. Tell me something, do ye truly think that yer the only one fighting ta find the truth? If ye are then yer a truly sad man." Mulder stared at her impressed and immediately on the defense, "Alright, ta the Inn. This way. And dinna try to act so surprised when ye get that information from yer friends and ye realize that Im on yer side. Ye may have lost a sister, but at least ye ken where ye come from."
Jamie turned from the pair and moved her horse into a canter. She led them to the Inn and helped them check in. She told them that she would wait for them over at the bar across the way. She tipped her hat and left.
In the room, Mulder called the Lone Gunmen back in Washington DC.
"You want us to find out who she is? Come on Mulder, I thought you could get us better jobs then hacking into personal whoa."
"What?" Mulder asked looking up at Scully as she walked into the room.
"You wont believe this. Shes a freak. Want us to read this over the line?"
"Yeah."
"Allison Blake McKenzie and Jason McKenzie had one daughter. And where tragically murdered when a trip to the doctor went wrong as a drunken driver slammed his Hummer into the front of their car, killing both parents instantly and leaving their daughter, Jamie McKenzie with two broken legs and no parents." Frohike picked up where Langly left off.
"She was transferred from foster home to foster home till an aunt came forward to care for the child. At the age of eight, Jamie began to show the talent of the McKenzie family. She was showing talent in reading minds and was beginning to use telekinesis. When she turned, 15 she began to show promise in the final trait of the McKenzie lifeline, communication with animals. When she turned 18 years out she joined Scotlands equivalent to the FBI. Where she now works as an investigator of abnormal behavior, a suiting subject for her. She has one known child. A young boy that she was forced to give up because she was too young. The boy lives in the town of Lally Brooch with his foster family. Jamie is allowed to visit the boy whenever she wants and she frequently visits him. As of yet the boy has shown none on the talents his mother possesses."
"Jesus. Thats how she knew."
"Mulder, it says here that the boys parents are legit but I just dug a little further. The US government, something thats under the US government, has control of the kid. You better watch it, man. She could be working for them." Langly again.
"My God. Thats why she said to trust her. Shes got family in on this." Scully looked at Mulder and he motioned her closer. She sat across from him and seeing the worried expression on his face she reached out and held his hand.
"Let us know the details of what happens man. See ya."
"Later Langly." He hung up the phone and Scully watched and waited for him to tell her what he knew. He stood and walked across the room towards the door. He turned as he reached it. "Coming?"
"Mulder tell me." She stood and walked towards him. He pulled out his gun a checked his clip. She stood in front of him, hands crossed in front of her chest and gave him her Scully wants to know and she wants to know now Look.
"Why? You wont believe till I make her show us. And maybe then you wont." He walked out of the room and towards the stairs. Scully followed close behind him waiting for Mulder to tell her. "Shes got a kid, Scully."
"Yeah, I noticed that."
"And theyve got him. Like Sam, only she is allowed to see him I dont know why yet. Maybe because they need her to train him."
"For what?" They walked out of the Inn and across the street to the bar.
"Scully, she can move stuff with her brain, read minds, and talk with animals. Think about all the ways you could use that in war? You could know what youre enemy was thinking. Think about it." He stopped right before opening the door.
"Mulder, have you lost youre mind? That cant happen." Mulder felt a cool breath across the skin on the back of his neck.
"You should believe youre partner Agent Scully. Its true. How did you think I knew what you were going to ask and that Mulder here wanted to call the Lone Gunmen, or that he was sneaking up behind me in the airport? Now get youre arses on your horses. We have to have a little talk. And dont even think about youre guns, Im five steps ahead of you."
Mulder and Scully walked out of the building and mounted their horses. Jamie Mounted and led them away from the town. It was at least a half an hour later when Scully spotted the lights of a far house in the distance. Jamie turned her horse up a small hill and they followed. She stopped and turned to look at them.
"We are going to clear this up right now. I have a problem and it wont get better, ever. My problem is my son. When he was born they took him from me. I get to see him as long as I dont have a case. They use him as a bargaining tool, thinking that by using him, they can get me to come in and teach him about my powers." She looked down at the house and sighed.
"They keep thinking that by holding him I will listen. But I never do. I do have these powers and I cant change that. But they are using these damn murder cases to tell me that he will be the next victim if I dont teach him. Big problem, he doesnt have my powers only the females in my family get them. Now I need yer help. Please trust me and help me get this thing figured out before they get him. Otherwise yer going to see a woman fall from the inside out right before yer eyes. And when I go it wont be pretty."
Mulder looked at her and then back at Scully. He knew Scully would help her, she had lost a child and everytime they came across something like this she always threw herself in there. He figured it was a way of avenging Emilys death.
"Im in. Just dont betray me or youll have hell to pay." Mulder said. Jamie looked up at him.
"Thank you. Thank you both. Come, ye should meet my family." Jamie squeezed her legs and her horse trotted down towards the group of kids playing outside.
"Well, I guess we have no choice. We need to figure out this case not only to help Jamie but also to help David. I cant leave a child to be hurt like that." Scully looked at Mulder. He nodded silently.
"Ok we help her. Any clue about how we go about doing that?" Mulder clicked his tongue and his horse started off, following Jamie.
"Tomorrow we go check out the last crime scene. Then I think it would be very smart to call in one of your favors." Scully moved her horse out and walked down the hill in silence.
=========
Jamie dismounted and tied her horse to the post in front of her. She looked up the hill. The two FBI agents walked their horses slowly down the hill. They still didnt trust her.
"Why should they?" Black Magic, her horse, said looking at her.
"What do you mean?"
"Have you been friendly? Or bossy like usual?"
"Im not bossy." He rolled his eyes, "Ok, so youre saying I should trust them as much as my family?"
"No, unless you want to. Trust them like a best friend. Work WITH them, not just to finish the case."
"I cant believe that Im talking to you about partners." He snorted. "Sorry. Ill try, ok? You hear any thing at the pub?" Scully dismounted near by and was walking her horse up.
"Yeah. They think its a secret experiment by that scientist up in the towers." The Scully looked at Jamie and her horse deep in conversation and shook her head. She just didnt understand.
"Thanks B.M. Wheres Mulder?" Jamie turned to Scully as she tied her horse up. Scully turned her head and pointed behind her. Jamie looked and could help laughing. Mulder was trying to dismount and he had one foot all the way through the stirrup. Scully was laughing so hard she was hugging her sides. Jamie walked over and caught Mulders shoulders just as he fell of the horse. She helped him get his foot out of his stirrup and then tied up his horse as well.
"Well, Black Magic says that the people in town believe that a scientist that just moved into the house up on the mountain, is performing experiments. I dont know if its true, but a very wealthy scientist did move into that house about two weeks before the first attack."
"How did you know when the guy moved in? Wait, the horse told you Im guessing."
"Very funny, Mulder. No, the town had a problem with that guy moving in. I remember it because he had to have his own power station built and the people well, lets just say they do not like this guy." The door opened behind them and a tall man walked out. He strode out and grabbed Jamie by the arm. He spun her around and kissed her.
"Jesus Christ!" Jamie pulled herself out of the mans embrace and slapped him across the face. "What the bloody hell, huh? Mike, yer not supposed to be here."
"Who cares?" He reached for her again and she stepped out of his grasp.
"Michael get the hell outta here. Now." He looked at her and the two people behind her. One had a hand on a gun, the other just standing there. He shrugged and walked away from the house. He turned and glared at Jamie.
"Ill get that kid back, Jamie. Ill take it to the courts again. Ill win him back." Jamie growled under her breath and walked in the house. Mulder and Scully followed her in and were greeted by the sweet smells of home.
A short woman rushed forward and hugged Jamie vigorously. She pulled back and looked behind Jamie.
"You must be the FBI Agents.
