I don't think I mention anyone in this story, if I do then they sure as hell don't belong to me, yep. They belong to someone else, most probably to CC,
1013 and FOX. Hey ever notice that Fox's birthday is 10/13? Hmmmm...
Rating. PG almost a PG-13, but not really.
Summary: After a double date Mulder finds his apartment has no heat. Being the partner she is Scully offers him a night on her couch. After a nightmare, we find all it takes to bring our lovable agents together, is a song, and a sleeping man.
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
She sat up and swung her legs over the side of the bed. Sighing, she stood and walked out of the room. She spotted the giant sleeping on her couch. He slept so peacefully she felt that she could scream and he wouldn't wake, but he would. He always did, even if he was sleeping in his apartment all the way across town.
She moved softly to the stereo system that played the gentle music he had told her to play so she wouldn't have nightmares as often as she did. She still had them, but they we're different now. Before they had been about losing her sister, her father, her baby, and someday losing her mother, as well. Now, though, they were about losing him, and not just for a few days or weeks or even months, but forever. To have him taken from her and she never having felt the warm of the lovers touch from him, or one of those kisses that she had seen him give so many times to other women.
She flipped on the radio and the first thing she heard out of the speakers was the song that she had heard him sing to her earlier that night, to his current girl friend. She had wanted to show that she in fact did have a life so she had called up and old friend and asked him to dinner. Her date and his blond bimbo had gotten along better then she had expected. She had had him to herself all night long, until this song came over the speakers. She smiled slightly as she closed her eyes. Her body swaying with the music.
I will remember you,
Will you remember me?
Don't your life pass you by,
We've got all the memories.
He opened his eyes slowly. The soft sound had woken him. He saw the small person crouched in front of the stereo. He remembered the song immediately. It was his and Casey's song, he heard it every time he saw her but he didn't really start to listen to the words till now. He watched as the small person turned to look at him. It was dark and he knew she couldn't see his eyes but he closed them just enough so that he could look out through the lashes and watch the redheaded woman.
Remember the good times that we've had,
Let them slip away from us when things got bad.
Clearly I first saw you smilin' in the sun.
Could feel your warmth upon me me,
I knew you'd be the one.
I will remember you,
Will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by,
We've got all the memories.
She turned to look at his gently sleeping form. She knew he had nightmares, he had them all the time, when she wasn't near him. She had once asked him if he had any good dreams and he had told her that he only had good dreams when he knew the world wasn't out to get him. She wondered if he was having a good dream now, or if he was dreaming at all.
She moved over to where he lay and invaded his personal space. She lightly traced the features on his face and ran her fingers through his silky brown hair. Her face was so close to his, she thought about how easy it would be to just lean in closer and kiss him. But she knew that wouldn't be right. That would be cheating, and she just couldn't make a person do that.
She knew she couldn't kiss him for more then that reason. Their jobs would be too difficult if he rejected her, and dating your partner was just against the rules at the FBI. One of them would end up having to transfer or quit. She remembered when she had thought about quitting, he had talked her out of it. And it was then that she was sure he was going to kiss her but as it turned out fate stepped in the way again.
I'm so tired I can't sleep,
Standin' on the edge of somethin' much to deep,
Funny how it feels so much,
But I can not say a word,
Screamin' on the inside but can't be heard.
He felt the fingers trace his face and he had to restrain himself from opening his eyes to look at her. He felt her breath brush across his lip and he felt the urge to move his head forward and kiss her. He quickly forced that urge way back down from where it came from only to find that it came from his heart. He heard he sigh and he peaked out from under the lashes to see her true self floating just inches from the surface of her eyes. He again focused on the song, hopping to get his mind off his beautiful partner.
And I will remember you,
Will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by,
We've got all the memories.
She took a deep breath and felt the whisper rising in her chest. She dare not utter the words in public, or while he was awake. Even thought he had told her in none to certain terms that she was his one and only. He was strapped down to a hospital bed and joking around about it when he had said that she was his 1 in 5 billion. She had shaken it off as the drugs but maybe she had been wrong.
"I love you."
So afraid to love you,
More afraid to lose,
Clinging to a past that doesn't let me chose.
Where once there was a darkness,
A deep and endless night,
You gave me everything you had,
Oh, you gave me light.
The words played on his soul, light and airy. He had heard them before, and been betrayed by them more then once. He didn't trust the words. But the mouth that had spoken them, he trusted that. He opened his eyes slowly. He heard the sharp intake of her breath and he felt her begin to stir. But before she could move, he closed the distance, in more ways then one, and gently caressed her lips with his.
And I will remember you,
Will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by,
We've got all the memories.
And I will remember you.
Will you remember me?
Don't let you're life pass you by,
We've got all the memories,
We've got all the memories...
She broke the kiss and looked him in the eyes. The normally murky depths had become clear, she could see his soul. And everything that he held down there in his guarded fortress that normal people called their heart. And through all the pain and suffering, all the walls he had build, all the secrets that he hide from the world sat there. And she felt herself falling into the depths and she stood amazed as all the walls he had build between them fell as she touched them. And she leaned in again to drink from his lips and she crawled onto the couch beside him. He moved the hair that fell in her face behind her ears as she looked down at him.
"Here's a knew remake of everyone's favorite song. It's Brandy with 'Everything I Do I Do It for You'"
Look into my eyes,
You will see, what you mean to me
Search your heart, search your soul
When you find me there, you'll search no more.
Can't tell me it's not worth trying for
Can't tell me it's not worth dying for
You know its true, everything I do I do it for you
Look into your heart, you will find
There is nothing there to hide
Take me as I am, take my life
I would give it all, I would sacrifice
"Do me a favor?" he asked gently as she laid with half her body laying on his.
"Anything." She said lightly into his chest.
"Sleep with me?" She smiled and looked up at him.
"Only if you make this our song." The deep laughter that rumbled through his chest delighted her, He hadn't laughed like that for a
while.
"Ofcourse."
Don't tell me it's not worth fighting for
I can't help it, there's nothing I want more
You know it's true, everything I do I do it for you
There's no love, like your love
And no other, could give me more love
There's nowhere, unless you're there
All the time, all the way
You can't tell me it's not worth trying for
I can't help it, there's nothing I want more
I would fight for you, I'd lie for you
Walk the wire for you, yeah I'd die for you
"You know it's true. Everything I do I do for you." He sang gently say she slipped into the first peaceful sleep she'd had in a while.
