Disclaimer: I do not own Fox Mulder or Dana Scully.

Notes: This was a really crap story that I wrote. I have watched all the X-Files episodes but, I didn't start the watching the show till three years ago. This was what I put together after watching three episodes.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

"Christ Fox!" whispers your sister Jackie.

"What?" keeping your voice down while you slip past you’re past your parent’s room.

"It’s 6am, Mom & Dad are gunna be mad that your up so early."

"It’s Christmas! They won’t care, plus I have to finish their gift."

"You do? What did you make them? And can I help?"

"Yes. A shoe/tie rack. No, all I have to do is wrap it."

"Cool"

You and Jackie slip downstairs, making sure to avoid the fourth step because it always made a really big creaking noise. Jackie left your side to kneel in front of the tree. You see her eyes smile at the mounds of presents, you hope you got that magician set you wanted. You reach behind the couch and pull out the gift for your parents, slid the wrapping paper around it and taped it. You slid the present under the tree and smiled to yourself.

Suddenly headlights flashed in the window then disappear. You carefully peek out the window. You didn’t want to let anyone know you were the only one up.

Outside the snow had fallen and little animal prints crisscrossed the lawn but you see none of it. Your eyes are drawn across the street to the man leaning against a car watching the house. You follow his path as he crosses the street to you house.

"Who is that Fox?" Jackie asks, who is suddenly kneeling beside you peering at the man.

"I dunno" You reply. As if he heard you, the man turns and locks eyes with you. His eyes hold yours for what feels like an eternity. He looks away and lights a cigarette, he turns and walks away.

The next thing you remember is the suite clad men telling you and your parents that your sister is dead but they can’t find her body. You swear to yourself that you will never forget that mans eyes, because some day you will get revenge.

"Fox?"

You thrash wildly trying you reach your sisters face.

"Fox!"

"What?" You awake with a start.

"Jesus Fox. I could hear your screaming all the way down the hall!"

"I was?" You look around realizing where you are and that you partner is staring at you in mock horror.

"Yea, you were calling for Jackie again," She looks at the disheveled papers on your desk, " Working late?"

"Yea," You smile at her as she sits across from you at her slightly messy desk.

You rub your hands over your face, "Hey, Dana what time is it?"

"Um…" She looks at her watch, "it’s about six"

"Thanks. Oh, listen I was looking over case number X430275. And I noticed that at each of the crime scenes there is one or two packs of the same brand of cigarettes."

"That’s the only connection between the victims. Well that narrows it down to a few hundred pe…" She was interrupted by a knock at the door.

The door opened and a man about 5’9, cropped short brown hair stepped in. You introduce yourself and your partner, Wondering why the man seems familiar.

"Agent Mulder, I believe I have some useful information about a man your looking for."

He looks up and you lock eyes with him. Immediately you know where you have seen him before. You and your partner have been looking for this man for at least 5 years, and then you remember your childhood and that night you saw your sister for the last time. You look at your partner and she nods, she recognizes him too. Your hand slowly, so not to startle him, to your 9mm in between your pants and your back.

"You do? Please Mr., um… I’m sorry I didn’t get you name. Could this be information on the man we are currently looking for?" You say in your normal voice. You’ve done this a countless number of times but sometimes you really enjoyed it.

"Mark Thompson. Yes Fox, its is about the man you are currently looking for"

Counting down you edge your gun out enough you lay your finger on the trigger.

"I would appreciate it if you didn’t call me Fox, Mr. Thompson. Call me agent Mulder, please." You request, judging the distance to your target.

In the blink of an eye, you’ve hoped over the desks, pulled you gun, and pressed it to his forehead. The force of your motion throws the two of you up against the cabinets. Impressed by you rapid movements you see your partner pull her gun and smile slightly.

"Ok dipshit. How many left?" You ask keeping your voice very cool. You can’t kill him. You need the information from him first, you say to yourself.

"How many of what?" He asks innocently, this just infuriates you even more.

"Don’t F*** with me a***ole! I’ll give you the ability to blow smoke out your forehead. How many and who? And if you lie so help my god I’ll do your body a favor and kill you on the spot." You yell at the insulate little man, hoping that its just you, your partner, and Thompson down here.

"Mulder step down. Back away from him." You partners voice breaks through your desire to kill the little man that stands before you, "Fox do you hear me? Back away from him."

You step away from the little shit that stands before you, cocking your gun as well. You rub the back of your neck with your free hand. With a slight smile you reach the end of your silent countdown. You whirl and fire. You miss him be inches, but the effect worked well on Mr. Thompson, who has soiled himself. Your partner obviously stunned turns to Thompson.

"Well, I guess you should just tell him because he has lost his mind," She turns to you, "if your gunna do this then fine but goddamn you FOX! I’m not gunna get dragged down with you!" You see the glint in her eyes as she steps through a door into the storage room that used to be her office.

"Next time, I promise you Thompson, I won’t miss." You say coolly.

"Ok! Ok, your partner’s sister has it and no one else. She was the last." He rushed.

"How long?" You demand.

"24 hrs at the least. She lasted the longest. We wanted your partner, to bad it wasn’t her in the car." He mused

You could see Dana in the distance. She is Ghastly white and her mouth is hanging open. You see the rage building behind her eyes and you quickly turn your attention back to Thompson.

"There’s got to be a cure. Where is it? Where’s the cure?!" You demand shaking the insolent little man.

"In the basement," He cries.

"What basement?" Dana’s voice is distant even thought she’s now standing next to you. She looks him over coolly. Your eyes meet hers as she glances at you. You can see the struggle behind her face even thought she doesn’t move.

"My basement" He replies.

"Your F**king lying." You say pushing the gun harder against his forehead. Dana puts her hand on your arm.

"I guess then Ag. Mulder you must ask yourself this question. Do you want to take that chance?"

You can’t kill him…here, any away. Deciding that you might need him just incase he real is lying. You let him leave with a warning that if he is lying you’ll be coming for him.

"Fox, do you think…"Dana starts but is interrupted by the phone.

You reach and take it off the hook.

"F.B.I Fox speaking" You say into the phone.

"Dana, is she there Fox?" You hear Dana’s mother. Last time she said Fox she was yelling at you for letting something or other happen to Dana.

"Yea she’s here. Hold on." You pass the phone to Dana. It’s your mother you mouth to her. She nods in understanding.

"Hello?" She says to the person on the other line and all you see is her face getting whiter and her eyes falling deeper into despair. You stand in front of her as hangs up the phone.

"He’s not lying." Is all she manages to say before she starts crying. You slip your arms around your partner’s shoulders to comfort her. Slowly she regains control of herself.

"Ok lets get out of here. We only have 24 hours." She says and you nod. You slip your gun back into the spot you always carry it.

The two of you drive to Thompson’s house and go down into his basement. You remember something about needing a search warrant from your early training as a field agent but it quickly slips back into the folds of your memory.

The two of you slip through a door and finds yourselves in a massive room full of documents. You walk up to on of the shelves and notice that the boxes are the files of people. You and Dana spread out in search of Dana S. or Christina S. Soon you come across the Sc’s and you find the box named Christina S. in the maze of files.

"Dana!" You call out for you partner and with in a matter of minutes she is at your side. You hand her a small vile with the same numbers on it that the file said to look for.

"Take this and implant it in her chest. And for Christ sake be careful."

She shouts for joy and give you a not so friendly kiss.

You part in the hallway. You watch Dana, racing to get to the hospital on time, run down the hallway and smile to yourself. Mentally promising to get to the hospital as soon as he took care of this last bit of business. You had promised a man you would do something to help him and pushing the clip back into your gun after checking the ammo, it was time to fulfill Your promise, you think as you head out to your car.

———————

You arrive at Thompson’s house again this time with two other agents. Nodding with satisfaction that he is home now. You kick down the door and storm in announcing who you were and that everyone in the house should yell where they are. You find your way to Thompson’s study. You see him sitting at his desk. You peer around the corner and you lock eyes with him the way you did some thirty odd years ago. He pulls a 38mm and opens fire on you, ripping a very large whole in your arm.

To bad his aim isn’t all that great, you think as you ready yourself. To for him, you remark to yourself as to spin around the corner and fire, I practiced this morning, you finish as you she him fall to his knee’s, the entrance wound clearly visible in the middle of his cowardly forehead.

—————————

You brace your arm against your body as you slip into the car. You start the engine and pull out the drive and head toward the hospital. You look down at you arm in its sling and smile. It was worth it you think to yourself. As long as Dana is safe, you find that thought oddly comforting. You have grown to love your partner. You smile as you come to the top of the small rise in the road and realize you have come to hill in your life and this time, instead of wondering how your going to climb this one, you start the climb.

No one is going to hurt your partner,

Not as long as you’re around.

You smile and can’t wait to tell Dana.
