Bees
Happily I have viewed and reviewed the X-Files since I bought it on Oct. 13. I've watch the soft looks and touches. And finally the meaning of that scene hit me. So here are my thoughts.
If the 'shippers had but two words that they could use to describe the whole situation between Mulder and Scully would have to be this.
Damn Bees.
We received that wonderful rumor so early in the making of the movie. The one that said Mulder and Scully would kiss. It was dismissed, but not forgotten. It grew in strength and the 'shippers slowly let their hopes rise, being careful, knowing at any moment that Chris Carter would change the plot of the movie if he had to. But then we saw pictures, and then it came. The Sunday night that none of use would forget. For about 3 seconds we saw our agents in a very close and loving embrace. Many others around the country must have acted the same as me by shouting: YES! THANK YOU CC! YOU FINALLY GOT THE POINT!
Non-shippers all said it look like a rather strained moment. Yes it did but it felt so damn natural! So we waited, and waited, and waited for the movie. I saw it the day after it came out and almost killed my ex-boyfriend when that moment came up. The defining moment in the lives of all shippers. And the two words that escaped Scully's mouth were:
ow, Jesus!
And the line that followed that was heard in every theater, and soon to be in every home was: damn bees. And since I've bought the movie I've begun to pay more attention to the words. Mulder, who we love, is a wonderfully complex, yet so simple.
When he was faced with the thought of losing Scully he tried to use his work to keep her around. He found that that didn't work. When realizing that their work could not keep her around forever he did the last thing he could think of. Agent Fox Mulder opened his heart and let it pour out, the words themselves making it evident that they had been bottled up a long time and not just thought up on the spot.
All I can say is thank you Chris Carter. You've kept us on the edge which will make for a very wonderful relationship. Thank you! Thank You! THANK YOU!
Now everyone say it with me: DAMN BEES!!!!
